Mysterious Door Found Beneath Student Center
On Friday, March 30, a “Custodial Use Only” door was found on Concord’s Athens campus by a member of the janitorial crew, Ethel Abbott. Beside the delivery entrance for cafeteria food trucks, a door, only about three feet high, was found. The door was found locked and could only be fully accessed through a set of codes.
Before Ethel Abbott discovered this door, there was no way for it to be noticed, as mud and dirt covered the entire front, and shrubs obscured the entrance entirely. This was a door that possibly would not have been discovered without Abbott's search for extra bathroom supplies.
Staff member Abbott was the first to disturb this area in years. “I came across the entrance as I was looking for the extra supply of bathroom stall locks. For some reason these are constantly needing replaced. I had heard the extra supply was placed in another janitor’s closet, but I wasn’t sure where. That’s when I found this mysterious door and reported it to campus police,” she states.
British Prime Minister Theresa May delivered a statement this morning in a press conference with both British and American media outlets. “There is absolutely no chance this is the Chamber of Secrets. Harry Potter, believe it or not, did not happen. It is a fictional book and there is absolutely no chance that this fictional place in a fictional book is sitting somewhere in southern West Virginia. Please move on, sirs and madams.”
Nevertheless, Concord University is already preparing advertisements featuring the Chamber of Secrets. One poster already being showcased around the Beckley area features a man standing in front of the Chamber of Secrets with a surprised smile as he looks into it, with the words “Come to Concord University, Featuring the Chamber of Secrets” across the bottom in papyrus font.
Concord president Dr. Kendra Boggess shares how this is an incredible finding for not only campus, but the entire world. “It’s an incredible finding that I think it shows what Concord can do. It shows what we are able to uncover and it’s really incredible when you think about it. What we uncover here really does change lives and changed lives is what we really need here in West Virginia. I’m sure we can all agree that this chamber shows that secrets really can be hidden, and Concord can uncover those chambers with hidden secrets in them.”
After Boggess’ statement, there is full consideration that the door leading to the Chamber of Secrets is this newly found door. Princeton police say this is under further investigation, but that students may have a new life after this. Several news crews from around the nation are expected to be visiting the region to document this finding.
