Relax with Some Finals Week Activities
Finals week is a challenging time of the semester for a lot of students, and can also be stressful. Those students, however, can make it through the week with these upcoming scheduled activities specifically for stress relief.
Finals week starts right after this weekend, and these events organized by the Student Activities Commission are certainly worth attending.
A “Relaxation Station” will kick off the series of events. At this station, students can loose some tension by enjoying various de-stressing activities such as hot stones, massages, aromatherapy, and plenty of others.
The Concord traditional “Late Night Breakfast” event will take place on Tuesday night of finals week. wOffering comforting breakfast food amidst the stress, it is a special time for students to take some time off from studying and eat some breakfast favorites during late night hours.
There is also the possibility of a give-away event, and a live musician coming and performing holiday music at Subway Sides during the lunch hour.
Some of these events have happened during previous semesters here at Concord University, and have received good comments from people who participated and enough of a turnout to indicate popularity. Andrew Sulgit, director of student activities, says that the feedback has shown that students really do enjoy these stress-relieving events, and that they offer a reason to take the mind off of studying to focus on something else for at least a small amount of time.
Concord sophomore Jeremy Hill admits that he gets a little stressed during finals week, but not a whole lot. Hill thinks stress can interfere with the way people think, therefore making it harder to focus on final exams. He also feels that having stress relieving events during finals week is a great idea. “[These events] encourage kids to take a break from studying and think about something else for a while instead of stressing over the whole finals thing,” adds Hill.
Sulgit thinks whenever someone deals with a stressful time such as finals week, a clear mind and better focus will help that person do better. Sulgit adds, “These events are designed for just that, to take the mind off of the difficult task of finals, allowing enough of a break to re-focus and hopefully do the best they can!”
Finals week is almost always stressful, and there are solutions for that problem. With that in mind, taking advantage of the upcoming events can possibly be beneficial in conquering those finals.
