Bet it All:
Casino Night

A new kind of entertainment came to Concord on March 4. For the first time, the university traded its usual stand-up comics and concerts for chips and cards to host Casino Night.
Many students found themselves drawn in by natural curiosity and were promptly presented with all the pseudo-gambling a broke college student could desire. They were given “$200” worth of free poker chips at the door and then set loose into a wonderland of green felt tables and shuffling cards.
For those more experienced gamblers, there were skill-based games like Texas Hold ‘Em and Blackjack. For students with less experience but the same adrenaline fueled desire to risk it all, luck-based games like craps and a roulette wheel were also provided, where students could place bets on certain numbers and then leave their fates up to the will of the dice.
Although many students quickly succumbed to the temptress of risk, those who rose above the odds to actually gain a profit in chips were rewarded with the opportunity to cash in their chips for raffle tickets which were then drawn for various fun prizes, ranging anywhere from candy, popcorn, and DVDs to the grand prize of a Play Station 4 gaming console.
Casino Night at Concord University was a massive hit with students, some completely losing themselves in the games and not rising from their respective tables until the event was over. There was cheering, there was cursing, there were massive wins and crippling losses. Some lucky students left the event with the bountiful fruits of their victories, and others left with nothing but empty palms and smiling faces after a fun night of makeshift Las Vegas antics right here on the Campus Beautiful.
