College Goal Sunday Rescheduled at Beckley Campus
College Goal Sunday for the Beckley campus has been rescheduled for Sunday, February
22 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. due to winter storm Octavia hitting the region and causing the road
conditions to deteriorate. The event will be held at the Erma Byrd Center’s Computer Lab in
Beckley.
On the Athens campus of Concord University, College Goal Sunday was held at its’
original date and time, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on February 15 in the Rahall Technology Center,
despite the weather.
“I think that despite the weather, the event was a success! A lot of soon to be college
students and current students received excellent FAFSA help! The event was planned flawlessly
and I think it was a fun and helpful way to spend my Sunday!” said Jordan Manning, one of the
many student volunteers in Athens for the event.
College Goal Sunday, according to News Release, is a free event that helps students and
parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The workshops are
staffed by financial aid experts, and events are held around the state.
The event is open to students of any age or income level who wish to pursue or are
currently enrolled in a certificate program, a two-year degree program, or a four-year degree
program.
If planning on attending College Goal Sunday, students should bring identification, their
Social Security card, their most recent tax records, untaxed income records, bank account
balances, and alien registration or permit cards if they are not a U.S. citizen.
College Goal Sunday is coordinated by the College Foundation of West Virginia
(CFWV) with help from a number of other state and federal organizations involved in helping
students get to college.
