Get ready to relive the excitement of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Tomorrow, September 29, Nintendo is releasing the SNES mini Classic Edition onto the market. If you are a classic gamer, this console will be a must-have for your collection.

The SNES was a very popular gaming console in its time, thanks to the extensive library of magnificent titles it had to offer. A lot of games for the SNES offered unforgettable experiences for kids or adults who played video games in the 90s. According the official website for the SNES mini Classic Edition at Nintendo.com, the SNES mini that will be released tomorrow is the perfect collection of 20 SNES favorites, along with other accessories. The console will also feature the previously unreleased Star Fox 2.

The 20 games that will come with the SNES Classic include classic titles include Super Mario World; Super Mario Kart; Donkey Kong Country; Yoshi’s Island; F-Zero; Star Fox; Super Castlevania IV, and even Super Metroid. Also accompanying the release include classic role-playing games such as Final Fantasy III (commonly known as VI); Secret of Mana; Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. There are several other popular titles included in the set, which any SNES gamer would surely enjoy playing through.

The SNES mini Classic Edition will also come with two classic controllers, which look just like the original SNES controllers. The two controllers will allow two people to play on the games that allow multiplayer gaming. The added accessories include a HDMI cable, a USB cord with an AC adapter, and an operation manual that comes with a poster. Altogether, the manufacturer’s suggested retail price will be $80.

Some may people may think it would be easier to download the games that the SNES Classic will offer. There are versions of these games that can be downloaded from the Internet. Those versions, however, are more than likely going to have some kind of alterations from the original versions. True gamers who love the classics want the original experience, which is something only the actual cartridge or the SNES Classic can offer.

A good number of the games that come with the SNES Classic Edition have paved the way for plenty of today’s video games. According to ign.com, every single one of the games listed are in IGN’s Top 100 SNES Games of All Time. A good portion of modern video games are only good enough for one play, and that’s it. Gamers will want to play these games from start to finish multiple times.

The portability of the system helps if you want to play at a friend’s dorm, since you can take the entire console along. The size of the console and the cords will make storage in a backpack easy. The SNES can even be a good buy for someone who owns an original SNES, but always keeps it at home.

More importantly, there are no cartridges to worry about. Old game cartridges cannot endure being tossed around. Therefore, having an SNES Classic with games installed will help keep SNES cartridges safe and sound.

At this point, everything dwindles down to the question whether a dedicated game should get purchase the SNES Classic Edition or not. The answer for any true gamer should be yes, and that it’s well worth the $80.
