For what may have been the first time in Concord history, a student filmmaker has debuted his first finished project for the university community to see first.

Joe Faidley, a senior broadcast communication major, held the first showing of his sci-fi horror film entitled “Seized” on Tuesday, September 13, at 7 P.M. in the Main Auditorium of the Alexander Fine Arts Center. In the spirit of the true movie-going experience, attendees were treated to freshly popped popcorn while they waited for the film to start.

Just before the premiere, Faidley took the stage to give a brief speech. He thanked everyone for coming and thanked everyone who had acted for his film and supported him throughout the long film making process.

Making their acting debut were Faidley’s wife, Amanda Faidley; mother, Wanda Faidley; friend and peer Kristin Osborne; and friend Paul Orten.

Following the ten minute show, Faidley offered himself up to answer any questions about the film or his experience in creating a film from scratch. The question-and-answer session lasted about twenty minutes and covered everything from the process of creating the film to Faidley’s personal goals following his upcoming graduation from Concord University.

Concord students have a wide variety of skills and talents, and Faidley’s “Seized” premiere is another example of that. There is no doubt that with a lot of work and a little luck, Concord students can do just about anything they set their minds to.
