Zumba Returns to Concord

With the arrival of fall comes the beginning of classes, clubs, organizations, and more. It’s no different for Zumba and it is time to get the details. Katelyn Workman, student and Zumba instructor, is excited to start back up again this year.

Most people are unaware of what Zumba is and the benefits you get from working out. Workman says, “It’s a dance fitness class! We use fun music and dance to get a great cardio workout.”

“I started taking piloxing classes with the instructor at Concord and when she graduated, I took her position. After teaching that for a year I switched to Zumba,” Workman said when asked what credentials she had to be able to teach.

Although Zumba is fun, it not only has health benefits, but it also has social benefits as well. “It’s a great stress reliever and it’s a fun way to get know other students that you wouldn’t normally meet,” said Workman, “Seeing the same people every week motivates you to work out in a fun way, which also motivates you to make other healthy choices.”

Since this may be new to many students, Workman wanted to get a message out to people who were debating on coming to Zumba, “I would tell them to try it two times before making a decision… It’s a completely different kind of workout. It’s like a dance party every week!”

Zumba takes place Mondays at 4:15 P.M in the Ballroom.
