Students celebrate dorm renovations.

Students living in the North or South Tower residence halls not only returned to a new school year but also to newly renovated dorms. With all of the installments the new dorms offer, there is rarely a moment when living in Towers dorms is uncomfortable.
One of the most crucial installments Concord implemented is both air conditioning and heating units that allow students to have control over their room temperature. Before Towers’ renovations, the dorms in North and South Towers already had air conditioning/heating units, but would take 10 or more minutes to kick in. These were old units that had collected dust, and occasionally, the front panel would be loose. The new air conditioning units, however, are controlled via wireless control panels. Once the controls are set, the units immediately adjust to the requested temperature in under a minute.
The old carpets that the dorms had on the floor were suitable. However, the blueish-gray carpets could vary from room to room. Some rooms had clean, presentable carpets that were in good condition for their age. Then again, other rooms had carpets that had tears and wear spots on them. Occasionally, a carpet would come with stains from past dorm experiences and some minor odors. These kinds of carpets were not exactly ones that needed disposed of, but had obviously seen their days. Now the dorms have fresh new rug flooring that complements the dorms. It creates a feeling of ease to walk onto a rug that has no stains and no irritating odors. The rug designs also go well with the dorm. Mainly, the dorm floors and the foyer floors look very presentable for anybody coming up to the room.
While the dorm renovations offered a nice, new comfortable feel, the bathrooms are definitely an improvement over the old ones. Bathrooms now have grey tile floors, tan tiles on the walls, and new showers. The new showers ditch the curved crawlspace design of the old showers. Now, the showers offer a convenient, rectangular design. They also have curtains, which are great for trapping heat during showers and block water from falling on the floor. Thanks to the shelves in the showers, people no longer have to have their bottles on the floor.
All of the white walls got a new layer of paint. This addition gives the halls a renewed look without too much of a difference. All of the new lights have been replaced and now have plastic covers that are not yellowed from years gone by. The furniture is the same as always. The desks, closets, nightstands, and beds have always served their purpose. Sometimes there may be a screw loose in a desk, or the equivalent. However, stuff like that is requires little time and effort to fix.
North and South Tower dorm rooms are in a much better state. The renovations were well worth the time and money spent. Every student occupying Towers during renovations had to bear with the noisy construction during the weekdays. Now, all of those students can enjoy a more comfortable dorm atmosphere. Renovations changed the dorms from great to excellent.
