Concord Universiy’s track is being resurfaced and redesigned starting this summer. The estimated cost for the project is $395,000. Recently two majors donations have been given to the project. The first donation is from the Hugh I. Shott, Jr. Foundation for $150,000 and the second donation is from the June Oblinger Shott Foundation for $25,000.
The track is going to stay at its present location in Callaghan Stadium, wrapping around the football field. The track is loved by the whole community. Many people, not only the athletes, use the track for countless reasons. Whether to get fit, to enjoy the weather, or go for a midnight walk to clear one’s head and unwind. Although it does help Concord’s many athletic groups to train and stay fit it also helps the Concord community to stay fit and healthy as well. The new track will keep it old use, as a training place, but will also be used for recreational privileges for Concord’s students, staff, faculty, and the surrounding area.
