Meet the Concordian Staff

Freshman Daniel Smith comes to Concord from the small town of Richwood, West Virginia to pursue a major in journalism. As the newest writer for the Con- cordian, Daniel has had some articles published. He admits that having the position as a class on the side, it’s challenged him in some manners.

“Though it’s a little rough adjusting,” he says, “It’s a firsthand experience towards journalism in the real world”. Classes for him are somewhat essential for his journalism goal he hopes to fulfill. Solely influenced by metal music and video games, Daniel lives the lifestyle of an average teenage punk. When he’s not doing time consuming homework, he likes to blow some steam off by playing his guitar. Jamming on the guitar is considered to be one of his favorite hobbies of all time.

Daniel describes Concord as having a nice campus, though some of the features that Concord has to offer aren’t exactly top notch, such as the food. That and the disruptive construction that takes place off and on. He states that there are a lot of cool people and that there are way more people with a variety of lifestyles and inter- ests. It’s something through which you can gain new friends. The way he refers to it is a far more expansive of an experience than high school. Though his classes aren’t all a walk in the park, he finds it all part of the college experience. All of these brain-busting classes that students take seem to mold our minds in some way. Adjustment is a little hard to squeeze in. Though in the end, our knowledge is far more expanded.

He also explained that college seems like it has a way of channeling your inner abilities and the traits that make students the successful people they are today. Seeing how Daniel wants to pursue journalism, he’s set a goal for earning a bachelor’s degree. Once he successfully completes that goal, he will leave Appalachia for the West Coast, preferably the state of Washington. The remainder of this year of college he will reveal the potential that hides within him.
