A Mountain Lion for almost thirty years, Dr. Kendra Boggess, the University’s 1st female president is about to have another first under her belt. The first ever presidential inauguration on the Campus Beautiful is set to take place on September 12th at 10 a.m..
However, the festivities cel- ebrating this landmark day in Concord History will start much earlier in the week including a Picnic for the entire University on Thursday, September 18th, and a Presidential Portrait Unveiling in the Marsh Library that same day, at 5pm in the Library.
Dr. Boggess has been an active and respected member of the Concord Community since 1984 when she began teach- ing business communications and software applications. Her long-standing teaching career combined with her prior administrative work catapulted her to the Chair of the Division of Business for 13 years of her Concord career.
Dr. Boggess was also elected to the position of CU’s Faculty President in both 2008 and 2009, after which she served as the interim vice president and academic dean from 2009 until 2011.
She began her term as interim President of Concord from July 1st 2011 until her appointment as The President of Concord University July 1 of this year.
She has, since working at Concord, served on many dif- ferent national, state, institutional, and divisional commit- tees and has been recognized forherleadership.
Dr. Boggess holds four different degrees ranging from an Associate of Arts Degree from St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida to a Ph.D. in Business Education with a cognate in Business Management from Virginia Tech.
She has been married to her husband Ted since 1979 and they make their home in Princeton, W. Va. They have three sons and daughters-in-law and six grandchildren.
