Your next Netflix binge is here

“Binge-watching” television shows is a popular method of de-stressing for college students. Typically, the preferred program is comedic with an engaging plot and a relatable set of characters. For many, Fox’s hit series New Girl is just what they need. New Girl is a sitcom television series created by Elizabeth Meriwether. The show combines elements of comedy and drama as the young twenty-something characters deal with maturing relationships and career choices.  The series centers on an offbeat teacher, Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel). After she answers an ad on Craigslist, and moves into an L.A. loft with three men, Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), and Winston (Lamorne Morris), hilarity ensues. Other regularly appearing characters are Cece, Jess’s best friend (Hannah Simone), and the guys’ close friend Coach (Damon Wayans, Jr.).  With Jess’s quirkiness, Nick’s grumpiness and laziness, Schmidt’s cockiness, and comical contributions from Winston, Coach, and Cece, the adventures commence. This show demonstrates a modern perspective of friendship and romance. Courtesy of Jess’s quirkiness and Schmidt constantly making offensive remarks and placing money into “the jar”, New Girl delivers nothing but laughs and is at the very least a fun twenty minutes.

Viewers can catch episodes every Tuesday night at 9pm on Fox. Both Hulu and Netflix have seasons 1-3 available for online streaming, and Hulu also has the first episode of season four available for viewing.
